Anderson Alumni Association's Legacy Lives On Through Gift to McDonald County School Foundation

The McDonald County School Foundation is honored to receive a generous donation of $1,843.73 from the Anderson Alumni Association, a gift that will continue the association's long tradition of supporting education and investing in future generations of students.
Founded in 1978, the Anderson Alumni Association brought together graduates of Anderson High School for reunions held every two years around Memorial Day. The gatherings gave alumni an opportunity to reconnect with classmates, celebrate their shared history, and honor loved ones by decorating graves throughout the community.
Over the years, the organization grew into a thriving alumni network. Hundreds of graduates attended reunions, newsletters kept classmates connected, and dedicated volunteers preserved the history of Anderson High School by recording alumni milestones and maintaining class records dating back to the school's earliest graduating classes.
As time passed, attendance naturally declined as many members faced health challenges and the difficulties of travel. Following the association's final reunion in 2022, the board made the heartfelt decision to conclude its activities and ensure its remaining funds would continue making a positive impact.
Rather than allowing the organization to simply come to an end, the Anderson Alumni Association chose to donate its remaining balance of $1,843.73 to the McDonald County School Foundation. The gift will help support educational opportunities for students and provide resources that benefit teachers throughout McDonald County Schools.
"The Anderson Alumni Association has always been about investing in people and preserving the strong sense of community that made Anderson High School so special," said McDonald County School Foundation President Gary Wasson.
"We are incredibly grateful that the association chose to continue that legacy through the Foundation. Their generosity will have a lasting impact on students and educators for years to come."
Although the reunions have come to a close, the association's commitment to education and community lives on. This donation serves as a lasting tribute to the generations of Anderson High School graduates who valued education, friendship, and giving back.
The McDonald County School Foundation extends its sincere appreciation to every member of the Anderson Alumni Association whose dedication over the past four decades made this meaningful gift possible. Their legacy will continue to inspire and support students for years to come.
